Welcome to our permissive footpath

Now open Permissive footpath along Lowes Hill and Butchers Road

It was always our intention at Nonsuch Farm to open pathways inside the hedges where roads with no footpaths form our boundary. These are narrow country lanes well-used by walkers, joggers and cyclists. The access point nearest Kelsale village is at the junction of Butchers Road with Bridge Street - just go through the opening. Where the permissive path crosses the right of way half -way along Butchers Road we have created a ramp over the ditch in order that you can continue on up past the livestock winter quarters and up as far as the dog kennels. (there is no access to the dog kennels). It is hoped in the coming weeks that we can create a safe opening at the end of the path onto Butchers Road.

A permissive path differs from a right of way as it is at the discretion of the landowner and can for any reason be withdrawn. We hope other local landowners will follow our example. We have found out that by registering a simple Deposit of Statement and Plan under s.31(6) of the Highways Act 1980 with Suffolk County Council you can prevent any risk of accidentally creating a permanent Public Right of Way.
